v0.5.6 - Performance Part 2 (Is that a new scan loop?) (#1500)
* New Scan Loop (#1447) * Staging the code for the new scan loop. * Implemented a basic idea of changes on drives triggering scan loop. Issues: 1. Scan by folder does not work, 2. Queuing system is very hacky and needs a separate thread, 3. Performance degregation could be very real. * Started writing unit test for new loop code * Implemented a basic method to scan a folder path with ignore support (not implemented, code in place) * Added some code to the parser to build out the idea of processing series in batches based on some top level folder. * Scan Series now uses the new code (folder based parsing) and now handles the LocalizedSeries issue. * Got library scan working with the new folder-based scan loop. Updated code to set FolderPath (for improved scan times and partial scan support). * Wrote some notes on update library scan loop. * Removed migration for merge * Reapplied the SeriesFolder migration after merge * Refactored a check that used multiple db calls into one. * Made lots of progress on ignore support, but some confusion on underlying library. Ticket created. On hold till then. * Updated Scan Library and Scan Series to exit early if no changes are on the underlying folders that need to be scanned. * Implemented the ability to have .kavitaignore files within your directories and Kavita will parse them and ignore files and directories based on rules within them. * Fixed an issue where ignore files nested wouldn't stack with higher level ignores * Wrote out some basic code that showcases how we can scan series or library based on file events on the underlying system. Very buggy, needs lots of edge case testing and logging and dupplication checking. * Things are working kinda. I'm getting lost in my own code and complexity. I'm not sure it's worth it. * Refactored ScanFiles out to Directory Service. * Refactored more code out to keep the code clean. * More unit tests * Refactored the signature of ParsedSeries to use IList. Started writing unit tests and reworked the UpdateLibrary to work how it used to with new scan loop code (note: using async update library/series does not work). * Fixed the bug where processSeriesInfos was being invoked twice per series and made the code work very similar to old code (except loose leaf files dont work) but with folder based scanning. * Prep for unit tests (updating broken ones with new implementations) * Just some notes. Refactored the series selection code during process such that we use Localized Name as well, for cases where the original name was changed. Better Caching & Global Downloads (#1372)
* Fixed a bug where cache TTL was using a field which always was 0. * Updated Scan Series task (from UI) to always re-calculate what's on file and not rely on last update. This leads to more reliable results, despite extra overhead. * Added image range processing on images for the reader, for slower networks or large files * On manga (single) try to use prefetched image, rather than re-requesting an image on pagination * Reduced some more latency when rendering first page of next chapter via continuous reading mode * Fixed a bug where metadata filter, after updating a typeahead, collapsing filter area then re-opening, the filter would still be applied, but the typeahead wouldn't show the modification. * Coded an idea around download reporting, commiting for history, might not go with it. * Refactored the download indicator into it's own component. Cleaning up some code for download within card component * Another throw away commit. Put in some temp code, not working but not sure if I'm ditching entirely. * Updated download service to enable range processing (so downloads can resume) and to reduce re-zipping if we've just downloaded something. * Refactored events widget download indicator to the correct design. Drawers, Estimated Reading Time, Korean Parsing Support (#1297)
* Started building out idea around detail drawer. Bugfix polishing (#1245)
* Fixed a bug where volumes that are a range fail to generate series detail * Moved tags closer to genre instead of between different people * Optimized the query for On Deck * Adjusted mime types to map to cbX types instead of their generic compression methods. * Added wiki documentation into invite user flow and register admin user to help users understand email isn't required and they can host their own service. * Refactored the document height to be set and removed on nav service, so the book reader and manga reader aren't broken. * Refactored On Deck to first be completely streamed to UI, without having to do any processing in memory. Rewrote the query so that we sort by progress then chapter added. Progress is 30 days inclusive, chapter added is 7 days. * Fixed an issue where epub date parsing would sometimes fail when it's only a year or not a year at all * Fixed a bug where incognito mode would report progress * Fixed a bug where bulk selection in storyline tab wouldn't properly run the action on the correct chapters (if selecting from volume -> chapter). * Removed a - 1 from total page from card progress bar as the original bug was fixed some time ago * Fixed a bug where the logic for filtering out a progress event for current logged in user didn't check properly when user is logged out. * When a file doesn't exist and we are trying to read, throw a kavita exception to the UI layer and log. * Removed unneeded variable and added some jsdoc |

Major Search Enhancements (#1238)
* Pull progress information for some of the recommended stuff. * Fixed some redirection code from last PR * Implemented the ability to search for files in the search and open the series directly. * Fixed nav search bar expanding too much * Fixed a bug in nav module not having router so some links broke * Fixed an issue where with new localized series tag, merging could fail if the user had 2 series with the series and localized series. Added extra error handling for tracking series parsed from disk. * Fixed the slowness when typing in a typeahead by using auditTime vs debounceTime * Removed some cleaning of Edition tags from the Parser. * Fixed a bug where GetNextChapter would return a loose leaf chapter from a special when it should return nothing. * Fixed a bug in events widget when an update comes in after a user refreshes, the active event counter could get out of sync, thus showing "Nothing going on here" Refactored the events widget to be named appropriately. * Refactored code to have errors during threaded tasks propagate to the UI via events widget (css still needed). Series Detail Refactor (#1118)
* Fixed a bug where reading list and collection's summary wouldn't render newlines * Moved all the logic in the UI for Series Detail into the backend (messy code). We are averaging 400ms max with much optimizations available. * Moved the Server Settings out into a button on nav header * Refactored Mange Users page to the new design (skeleton). Shakeout testing Fixes (#952)
* Cleaned up some old code in download bookmark that could create pointless temp folders. * Fixed a bad http call on reading list remove read and cleaned up the messaging * Undid an optimization in finding cover image due to it perfoming depth first rather than breadth. * Updated CleanComicInfo to have Translators and CoverArtists, which were previously missing. * Renamed Refresh Metadata to Refresh Covers on the UI, given Metadata refresh is done in Scan. * Library detail will now retain the search query in the UI. Local Metadata Integration Part 1 (#817)
* Started with some basic plumbing with comic info parsing updating Series/Volume. * We can now get chapter title from comicInfo.xml * Hooked in the ability to store people into the chapter metadata. * Removed no longer used imports, fixed up some foreign key constraints on deleting series with person linked. * Refactored Summary out of the UI for Series into SeriesMetadata. Updated application to .net 6. There is a bug in metadata code for updating. * Removed the parallel.ForEach with a normal foreach which lets us use async. For I/O heavy code, shouldn't change much. * Refactored scan code to only check extensions with comic info, fixed a bug on scan events not using correct method name, removed summary field (still buggy) * Fixed a bug where on cancelling a metadata request in modal, underlying button would get stuck in a disabled state. * Changed how metadata selects the first volume to read summary info from. It will now select the first non-special volume rather than Volume 1. * More debugging and found more bugs to fix * Redid all the migrations as one single one. Fixed a bug with GetChapterInfo returning null when ChapterMetadata didn't exist for that Chapter. Fixed an issue with mapper failing on GetChapterMetadata. Started work on adding people and a design for people. * Fixed a bug where checking if file modified now takes into account if file has been processed at least once. Introduced a bug in saving people to series. * Just made code compilable again * Fixed up code. Scan Chunking (#604)
* Some performance refactoring around getting Library and avoid a byte[] copy for getting cover images for epubs. * Initial commit. Rewrote the main series scan loop to use chunks of data at a time. Not fully shaken out. * Hooked in the ability for the UI to react to series being added or removed from the DB. * Cleaned up the messaging in the scan loop to be more clear. * Metadata scan and scan work as expected and populate data to the UI. There is a slow down in speed for overall operation. Scan series and refresh series metadata does not work fully. * Fixed a bug where MangaFiles were not having LastModified Updated correctly, meaning they were opening archives every scan. * Modified the code to be more realistic to the underlying file * Updated ScanService to properly handle deleted files and not result in a higher-level scan. * Shuffled around volume related repo apis to the volume repo rather than being in series. * Rewrote scan series to be much cleaner and more concise on the flow. Fixed an issue in UpdateVolumes such that the debug code to log out removed volumes could throw an exception and actually break updating volumes. * Refactored the code to set MangaFile last modified timestamp into the MangaFile entity. * Added Series Name to ScanSeries event * Added additional checks in ScanSeries to ensure we never go outside the library folder. Continuous Reading for Webtoons & I Just Couldn't Stop Coding (#574)
* Fixed an issue from perf tuning where I forgot to send Pages to frontend, breaking reader. * Built out continuous reading for webtoon reader. Still has some issues with triggering. * Refactored GetUserByUsernameAsync to have a new flavor and allow the caller to pass in bitwise flags for what to include. This has a get by username or id variant. Reading Lists & More (#564)
* Added continous reading to the book reader. Clicking on the max pages to right of progress bar will now go to last page. * Forgot a file for continous book reading * Fixed up some code regarding transitioning between chapters. Arrows now show to represent a chapter transition. * Laid the foundation for reading lists * All foundation is laid out. Actions are wired in the UI. Backend repository is setup. Misc Bugfixes and Enhancements (#507)
* Removed some extra spam for the console * Implemented the code to update RowVersion, which is our concurrency check * Fixed a critical issue where more than one bookmark could occur for a given chapter due to a race condition. Now we use concurrency checks and we also gracefully allow more than one row, by only grabbing first. * Cleaned up the logic for IHasConcurencyToken and updated the setters to be private. * Lots of comments and when deleting a library, remove any user progress items for which chapters don't exist. * When deleting a Series, cleanup user progress rows. * Now after a scan of library, if a series is removed, collection tags are pruned as well if there are no longer any series bound to it. * Updated the image on the Readme to show a better picture * Small code cleanup to remove null check modifier as I check for null just before then * Fixed images loading multiple times due to using function in binding with random. Collection Support (#234)
* Readme refactored to be more clean and clear, taking inspiration from wiki.js's readme. * Initial backend for Collections and basic metadata implemented. * More build flavors for Raspberry Pi users and updated Install since we don't need users to set their own JWT Token Key. Update a typo in appsettings.json file for prod. * Fixed #224. Sort before getting a First?Last() chatper * The rough ability to add and get series metadata and tags. * Fix a bug on getting metadata for when it doesn't exist. * Fixed a bug where flattening directories with some unique filenames could cause reading order of images to be out of order. * Added a seed code to ensure all series have SeriesMetdata * Ensure all instances of opening an epub is using "using" so we don't lock the file. When we have a malformed html file, log the issues and inform the user we can't open the file. * Book reader now handles @Import "" statements in CSS and inlines the css into css file that references them. This allows for them to be scoped. In addition, if the html or body tag had classes, we now send back a single div with those classes. * Fixed GetSeriesDtoForCollectionAsync which was not properly returning series * Implemented cover image for collection tag. Fixed an issue in metadata update call. * Add check for user access when resolving series for a collection tag.
